Additional Healthcare Projects

Constructed in the early 1970’s, the building has gone through dramatic renovations from trendy nightclub/ restaurant to ultra-modern imaging center.

To provide for its new medical functions the building was gutted with only the exterior walls and roof structure remaining.  Calming colors and finishes keep patients about to undergo complicated medical procedures comfortable. Instead of a round dance floor, a modern open-sided MRI and exam rooms fill the space.  The drab exterior stucco finish and heavy wooden entrance canopy and deck have been replaced with gleaming granite tiles and an airy curved metal canopy. 

This building renovation, a design-build project with Building Specialists, a local construction company, created new fabrication and clinic spaces for an established prosthetics and orthotics practitioner. The owner wanted a building that would not only be functional for his fabrication operation, but would also offer a memorable image with a modern flare.

The two most prominent structures nearby are a ribbon of railroad tracks and the interstate highway bridge; therefore, the three buildings are visually combined with a 200-foot long ribbon of stainless steel. The industrial brick and metal facade of the warehouse was replaced with reflective glass on top of glass block. The rest of the lower exterior walls are covered in corrugated stainless steel panels and a neon sculpture tops the arched main entrance.

This two-story addition consists of approximately 4, 400 square feet of space on each floor.  The lower floor contains a cardio theater and renovations for a nursery, toddler play-land and a separate exercise/ study area for the youth.  The upper floor contains an aerobics studio, conference suite and an expanded weight training area.   

Hughes Associates was selected for this project based on the owner’s knowledge of the firm’s reputation and track record with site planning and building design.

The project is a new facility consisting of a main floor, a full basement space and related site work. The main floor contains 5,040 square feet and is divided into three dental suites. The basement also contains 5,040 square feet and is roughed in for a dental laboratory in addition to containing ancillary building and dental equipment.
