Fire Station No.17 is located on River Road across Gaskins Road from a community treasure, Second Baptist Church. Site adaptation, materials, traffic flow, landscaping and colors were all very important concerns of the neighbors and the Church. The Fire Department, Planning Commission and Highfill & Associates worked closely with them to honor their concerns.
The Fire Station houses 2 apparatus bays, sleeping quarters and locker rooms, a full kitchen, a recreation room,
a library and several work spaces.
Highfill & Associates, an affiliate of Hughes Associates Architects, provided complete planning, architectural design and construction administration services. |
